The Johnson Center gym serves as an event space for Lower School arts, Lower School parent presentations and meetings, and athletic practices/events for the entire school. Investments in this project will improve aesthetics, performance, flexibility, and versatility for all students in all grades.

There are many benefits connected to this improvement project :

• Versatility in practice and event schedules in athletics and the arts
• Versatility in running simultaneous volleyball practices/games with a two court system and curtain
• Ability to run two team practices simultaneously in the gym for volleyball and/or basketball, thereby reducing the number of late practices due to limited gym space
• Ability for Varsity teams to practice in either space, increasing flexibility in timing and scheduling 
• Improved performance space for arts performances
• Improved aesthetics for parent presentations and meetings
• Versatility of venues for presentations and meetings
• Increased game experience in SPAL athletics for our teams and other schools, and therefore increases in prospective student/family interests
